What is a Smash Cake? While the rest of the party is enjoying their piece of cake, the birthday child is presented with an individual cake to do with, as they will. Utensils are forgone as the child digs right in with both hands, grabbing the cake and shoveling fistfuls of the sweet baked treat into their mouth. Much of the cake and frosting land on the floor, in the child’s hair and on their clothes, its messy business.
